Supreme's tapping celebrated New York artist Christopher Wool for a three-deck series dropping this fall. For those unfamiliar, Wool's been a fixture in the contemporary art world since the '80s, known especially for his stark black-and-white stenciled word paintings that play with language in ways that make you stop and think twice. Pieces like "Sell The House Sell The Car Sell The Kids" aren't just meant to be read—they demand interpretation.
The Chicago-born artist moved to NYC in the early '70s and had his first solo show at Cable Gallery in 1984. His work has since been featured at major institutions including MoMA, the Whitney Biennial, and museums internationally. His minimalist aesthetic and conceptual approach to text should translate nicely to deck format, though we'll have to wait and see how the designs actually look.
The collection drops October 2nd at Supreme NY, LA, and online, with Japan getting it October 4th. As always with artist collabs, expect these to move quickly.
