Supreme and Jordan Brand are dropping a collaborative Air Jordan 5 this week, reworking one of the most iconic silhouettes from MJ's championship era. For those who need a refresh: the AJ5 debuted in 1990 with a design inspired by WWII fighter planes - those distinctive teeth on the midsole are a direct nod to military nose art. Jordan wore these during the Bulls' first championship run, and the shoe's been a grail ever since, influencing everything from basketball culture to film and music.
The collab features the AJ5's classic elements - molded construction, raised ankle support, and that signature lace toggle - but Supreme's putting their own spin on it with three exclusive colorways. Worth noting the slightly unusual release strategy here:
- Drops online and at the London store on Friday, October 16th
- Japan release follows on October 17th
- NY and LA stores will NOT be stocking these
No word yet on pricing, but expect typical Jordan collab numbers. The limited store availability is definitely interesting - looks like this one's primarily an online play for most of us.
