Supreme is linking up with blackmeans for Fall 2023, bringing the Japanese leather brand's punk-informed craftsmanship to a new collection. If you're not familiar, blackmeans was founded in 2008 by Yujiro Komatsu, Tomoko Moriya, and brothers Takamoto and Masatomo Ariga. They take hardcore punk aesthetics and execute them with traditional Japanese leatherworking techniques - the brand name itself references "burakumin," the term for 18th century Japanese leather artisans. Their approach is all about bringing serious construction quality to punk staples like leather jackets and distressed denim.
The collaboration includes some standout pieces that showcase what blackmeans does best:
- Hand-painted Leather Motorcycle Jacket
- Hand-mended Sweater and Jean
- T-Shirt
- Hand-painted Leather Belt and Lighter Case Keychain
The collection drops December 7th in the US and EU, with Japan and Seoul getting it December 9th. No pricing announced yet, but given the hand-painted and hand-mended details, expect this one to be in the higher range.
