Supreme is teaming up with UNDERCOVER and Public Enemy for a Spring 2018 collection that pulls from one of hip-hop's most essential albums. Fear of a Black Planet, Public Enemy's groundbreaking 1990 release, provides the visual foundation for this three-way collaboration. The album's significance can't be overstated - it was inducted into the Library of Congress in 2005 and gave us "Fight the Power," while tackling themes of systemic racism and Black empowerment that remain just as relevant today.
The collection features original artwork from Fear of a Black Planet across the pieces. It's dropping March 15th at Supreme's NY, Brooklyn, LA, London, and Paris locations, plus online, with Japan following on March 17th. Worth noting: a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the ACLU, which feels fitting given the album's activist legacy and the current political climate.
This marks another collaboration between Supreme and Jun Takahashi's UNDERCOVER, and bringing Public Enemy into the mix makes it particularly significant. It's not every day you see a collection that connects streetwear's past and present while supporting civil liberties work.
